Barcoding Support
The benefits of using barcodes during an event is to improve consistency, efficiency
and the speed at which cars may be registered and staged. The greatest
benefit is during staging.
- Registration mode: When a
barcode is scanned and the entry is found in the Registration List, the
entrant is automatically registered (the registration check box is checked) and
the focus is set to that entry for additional editing, if necessary.
To make the most of this feature, the Registration list should be populated from an
existing Membership file, Event, or both. Whether using Bar Coding support
or normal event control, the goal is to obtain the largest list of potential entrants.
This greatly reduces manual data entry processes and thus speeds up
registration.
- Staging Mode: Scanning
cars as they come up to stage, frees up the Timing person and allows them to deal with
normal timing
issues (penalties, event control, and other timing activities). It improves accuracy,
consistency and drastically reduces the amount of work necessary to stage
entries into the computer. Data entry is greatly minimized. Scanned
entries are automatically staged (if they are registered). If the entry is
not found, the Timing person must intervene and manual stage the entry using
normal staging functions.
