The first time you execute the program there are some basic
configuration changes that should be made to customize the program to your
requirements.
The items that we will describe here are:
- Name of your club
- Port settings for the Timer and/or a Digital Display.
- Class Definition file (on the following page).
The remainder of the settings will be sufficient for the
tutorial although feel free to study the options in the
Options tabs. For additional
information about each Options tab, select the desired tab and press F1 for
context help.
Modifying Program Options
Many of the program settings are used as program
defaults each time your execute the program while others can be used to
customize each Event and Membership File specifically. Once you make the initial configuration
changes outline below you will be
ready to create your
first Event.
Select the Options menu item from the Setup menu.
This will pop up a dialogue consisting of several tabs. Each tab provides
a group of settings that control all the settings for the program.

The Options Tabs
As shown below, the Configuration Settings dialogue contains several
tabs that provide Program settings, Event and Membership file settings, Penalty Assignments
(abbreviations), Print setup (defines columns widths for reports), Timing Settings and Points Options, and custom Column Heading assignments.
The first time you use the program, enter your club name, and check "Auto-Focus Registrations On Timing", and make
COM port selections using the
Timing Settings Tab. The Auto-Focus option will synchronize the
displaying of an entry in the Registration Grid as you move around the Staging
Grid.
It is important to know what ports are available on
your PC or Laptop and which ones can be used by the program for Timing and
optionally a Display.
The most widely used settings are contained in the Event Settings tab. Of significant importance are:
- Print Time Slips - used to print finish times
on a printer as the timing data arrives from a Timer.
- AutoSave Interval - an interval that consists of the
number of finishing times that must arrive from a Timer before
data is automatically saved. For example: an interval of 1 specifies that
the data will be saved following each timed run.
- Auto-Focus Registrations On Timing - this will
synchronize the display of a car entry in both the Staging and
Registration Grids as you move around the Staging Grid. This can help in
providing immediate feedback and additional information about how each
driver is doing, during an event.
- Event Modes - generally this will be in Normal Event Mode
for normal autocrossing events but allows you to select various other
modes that include Lapping Session, Rally Cross Mode,
and whether or not single light operation is being used.
Timing Settings
Below are the Timing Settings from which you should select the
Timer Port and the
Display Port (if you
have a Racing Display).
Other timing settings, like the number of cars on course is
selected in the
Timing Settings
option:
The top most option, Max Number of cars on course, specifies a
logical limit of how many cars you expect to time on course at the same time.
This affects the number of control buttons that will be displayed in the
Staging Window
