New Concepts

Please read and adjust your event management accordingly.

 Networking has been totally transformed to provide TCP connectivity.  The MS Networking Share Concept that was utilized prior to this version, is no longer used. 

New features and functionality have been introduced that provide very fast data exchanges (at networking speeds) and in real-time based on the capacity of your router and network. Below is very brief description of the Networking concepts - Please refer to the documentation for detailed information:

  • Timing Server - contains a Networking Service that allows clients to automatically obtain the latest state of the data set. 
  • Clients - all networking clients have the ability to save and manage the event on the PC they are running on (essentially managing a full copy of the event).  This provides extended backup potential, as well as increasing the flexibility in running your events.  The clients are intelligent and support access to almost every function and feature within the software, allow you to offload the workload from Timing Server (and persons) to the clients themselves.

    There are 2 basic was to connect to the Timing Server:
    1. File/Connect To Timing Server (*recommended approach *):
      Provides a selection of what client is to be activated and forces a full data synchronization with the Timing Server (copying all current data) to the client. 
    2. Connect Manually - this method allows you to select a networking mode (similar to prior versions) and manually connect to the Timing Server whenever desired.  Running in a Networking mode when NOT connected will allow you to queue up edits respective to that mode. The data will flow to the Timing Server once connected. 
    3. All clients have full and direct control of the data set and allow you to connect printers, displays, live timing and many other functions that off-load processes and resources off of the Timing Server.
    4. The Future: not only did speed and performance improve with our networking changes but these changes allow us to move towards the future where distributed event management devices will be possible. Dedicated (timing hardware), which can include networked laptops and Android devices that will allow you to manage various aspects of the event, including staging, corner working (cone counts, penalties) etc.
  • Admin Client has been dropped.
  • Heat Assignments and class definitions can be carried out on Timing Server, Registration clients and the Audit Client, providing flexibility to your registration process
  • Event settings, Grid and Work assignments can be done on any client that has control privileges, excluding the Announcer Clients.
  • Optionally auto-load in client mode - this allows proper data synchronization and validation of all active clients during startup.
T-LINK Status Enhanced T-LINK status messaging to provide better information for Battery and RF levels. Prior versions logged some messages to the Staging log window and have now moved to the T-LINK Status dialog for simplified view and a single source of information.
Announcer Window Prior versions of AXWareTS had 2 forms or Announcer Windows (By Class, and Rolling). These have now been replaced by a standard Announcer Window that allows you to view:
  • X cars on deck
  • Y cars in history
  • Class Results - you can now select a class or specify automatic announcer display that shows the class results of the class for the last finishing entry. If the class selection is blank, the class results are ignored (not displayed) and only the 'on deck' and 'history' is shown.  Together this expands on the 'By class' and  'Rolling view' announcer concepts in prior versions.
  • When times are being recorded, the differentials for any cars on deck in the same class are also updated real-time.  This provides the a more accurately set of information for the announcers. 
  • Saves the dimensions of the Announcer Window so that it can be refreshed to the same size the next time the Announcer Window is launched.
  • Print Templates are available for all 3 sections of the Announcer Windows: On Deck, History and Class results. Use the Print Templates editor to modify the columns to be displayed in the Announcer Window.  Both the On Deck and History are Staging specific while the Class results are standings (registration grid) specific.
Staged Cars When times are recorded in a class, any additional staged entries in that class, the differentials and positions are automatically updated in the Staging grid. Prior to this, the current position and differentials were only updated during the active staging process.  It now keeps the data up-to-date real-time.
Insert New Entry Updated the Class and Pax (Superclass) pull-downs to properly support heterogeneous Superclass definitions (where base classes are ONLY available in a superclass). 
Re-Classing & Super Classes Enhanced the Re-Class function to properly manage Superclasses. Prior to this, the Bump functions were more suited to re-classing (bumping) entries to other classes. The Re-Class function now understands the superclass definitions and can how handle move bumped entries appropriately.
Class Definitions
  • Insert Row and Delete Row will force the OrderBy column to be automatically updated. Prior to this it was left blank. 
    Note: the order of the table is affected by the active sort column in the table.
  • Moving a class up or Down 1 row will retain the OrderBy - prior versions moved the Orderby which was technical not correct.

Bug Fixes
Edit Class Factors If you modified the Pax Factors for an existing event, the Pax Results would use the Pax Time as the Total Time for non-pax classes due to an attempts at optimized code blocks. Workaround: re-accepting staging data.
Run Super Class Bumping If a SuperClass is defined as a explicit heterogeneous class (non-pax) the Edit/Run Super Class Bumping did not do anything with it. Instead, the Bump Entire Class needed to be executed for each class for the bumps to take effect.
Class Tree View
Heats By Class		 When entrants were un-registered, the tree was not refreshed. In prior versions - workaround, switching heats in the Staging View Pull-down reset the view.

 

Version 14.60 - August 2014

Enhancements
Live Timing - Steaming Minor enhancements were made to help manage slow connections better (for broadband).
Class Definition Files Importing Class Definitions now also updates the heat management and class generator. Prior to this a reload of the event was recommended.
General Messages
  • Several information messages will now show up in the Status Message log window rather than either in the Staging or Registration window.  This consolidates general information about what processes are being managed.
  • added several additional messages for process management that allows improved error handling.

Bug Fixes
Staging Entries If Pax classes and Unique Car Numbers was active, staging an entry may or may not update the run count nor load the driver information into the staging grid due to a look up error. 
Live Timing - structured The browse URL for structured results was not initialized appropriate when switching types of live timing, which in turn may result in the home page not being set by default: to index.htm.

 

Version 14.50 - June 2014

Enhancements
GUI Framework Update Updated to v23 of the GUI framework.
Pax and Raw Time Positions These columns were only active during timing but are now retained and stored in the event.
Standings Tie Breakers The software has inherent tie-breaking built-in and auto-adjusts tie's by looking at the 2nd faster run for each entry. the 2nd fastest time determines who the tie will go to and is done by subtracting (-0.001) from the leading entry's time (but does not touch Raw Times).  We have provided new registration status log messages for the entries that are adjusted to help indicate this had occurred. However, since this is such a rare condition it remains an auto-managed feature.
Live Timing & Setup
  • Added a "close" command to the FTP upload process to allow FTP servers to close their connections. Most sites handled this correctly but prior to this version, some servers held connections open and could exceed connection limits as a result. 
  • New buttons in Live Timing setup to generate script without the need to execute it in the same pass.
  • New DEL button to erase script once your testing phase is complete...this removes potentially sensitive login information that can be found in the script.
  • FTP - Structured Results are now controlled via the home page "index.htm" in the configured FTP folder. Prior versions used a unique name for the event which included the date and no longer done.
  • A File error could pop up if "Live Results File" is checked and no local folder is configured. This no longer occurs and did not affect any FTP uploads.
  • Clarification: with FTP selected, enter the public browse location WITH desired Home page.
    ex: "\live_timing\index.htm".  The home page will be "index.htm". If you select "\live_timing\sololive.htm" then the home page is "sololive.htm".
File View Tab Is now populated with folder locations without an event or membership file being loaded.  This helps visualize where you current data folders and other files are residing.
Heat & Work Auto-Assignment for new registrations. When entering new registration entries, the heat and work heat assignments were not automatically updated. The system expected the use of the Heat Assignments to update the heats in order to allow you to balance the heats.  This version will auto-assign them (respective to the class).
Note: The process is only active for normal By Class Heat Assignments.
Heat and Work Heat Assignments When re-classing registrations, the Run Heat and Work Heat Assignment is updated respectively. Please update the work assignments as necessary. This may change the balance of the heats and force redundant work assignments into play.

Pax Points - Ladies Exclusive A new option has been added to the Pax Points for Ladies control.  If Ladies Exclusive is checked, ladies entries will not be part of the open pax points reports, but will be in their own section, with points accrued from 1st place onwards.  This forces exclusive points for Ladies entries in the Pax Points Reports.
Membership and Bumped Entries This version introduces heterogeneous bump class support that allows you to managed bumped entries between the Membership file and Events.  You can now bump entries in the membership master file and import them into events and vice versa.  Points for bumped entries are managed on the active class (not the original bump class in the bump field).  This allows you to manage bump classes for an entire season and provide entries to reserve their classings. Note: bump classes and superclass are related so this will also essentially affects SuperClasses. For more information please refer to the documentation.
RallyX Penalty Support We have improved the RallyX support for penalty management. When in RallyX Mode the penalty field becomes the MG (Missed Gate) field and defaults to 10seconds per missed gate.  The number of seconds per MG is set in the Penalty Settings. Entering 2 MG's will result in 20 secs, 3 MG's = 30 secs etc. When setting the mode to Normal mode, penalties are reset to normal 2 seconds per cone.
New Events - File Naming Prior versions of AXWareTS stored data automatically into an "axuntitled" event prior to saving the events to a selected file name. The "axuntitled" data sets were auto-loaded during event creation (attempting to reload unsaved data). This and future versions force you to select a new file name for all new events and auto-loading to "axuntitled" events is no longer supported.

Bug Fixes
Live Streaming Required a jump start to force it to activate. 
Super Classes
  • If you used non-pax Superclasses, the standings were adjusted incorrectly when reloading the data.
  • Superclass definitions could at times force a Superclass to not be configured properly and some entries may appear as a separate class in the entry list. 
  • For Paxed Superclasses the class generator could at times generate improper classings based on the various definitions. Ex: If you have Superclasses such as S, ST, R, with normal classes STR, STR, STU etc, the class generator would get confused. 
Insert/Edit Dialog New behavior is now introduced when registering entries.  When entering new base classes for a Pax or Superclass on consecutive entries, the car number will be blanked out rather than the loading of any existing entries. This affected entries mostly when used with Unique Car Number and Unique Car Numbers in a Pax Class.
Pax Super Classes If you had Unique Car Numbers checked, Pax entries were incorrectly checked for uniqueness and would result in stating that entry already exists, when in fact it did not.
Insert New/Edit Registrations When editing or creating a new registrations and using the Re-class function in the Insert New/Edit registrations dialogue, the re-class did not update the class or the Bar Code (if so configured) in the dialog itself.
NCCC Registration Labels The default registration labels did not print the Class - Car Number on the labels.  A custom template was necessary as a workaround.

 

Version 14.40 - May 2014

Enhancements
Class Definition Files When switching to a different class definition file the sorting mechanisms did not reset appropriately and classes could get intermingled together.  This affected heats and some sort processes...prior to this release, a quick workaround was simple to reload the event which resets the sorting cache.
Membership Cards
 
  • When printing membership cards on sheet fed labels, the starting label did not generate the proper report if a single entry was selected or the starting column was anything but the 1st. 
  • Added the same font scaling to Membership Cards (equivalent to the Label control as provided in 14.30). This allows proper alignment of the cards based on the  Label Font selected.
Registration Labels When printing registration labels on sheet fed labels, the starting label did not generate the proper report if a single entry was selected or the starting column was anything but the 1st. 
Top Time Of Pax (TTOP) Updated the check for Top Pax time which verifies Pax Factors are being used.  For clubs that do not use them, the Top Pax Time is not provided (nor are other Pax items).  For clubs with Factors defined, Top Pax Time is shown in the Top Time dialog and in respective reports. 
T-LINK Status information Added 2 check boxes that allow  you to control the T-LINK Status Dialog with more options. You may now make the dialog quiet (no sounds are reported), and you may permanently hide the dialog.  We recommend that you manage this settings carefully since it is easier to miss status indicators that show a potential RF interference issue that you may miss. 

The Statuses have also been modified to better report RF interference detections and their levels.  It is important to pay close attention to them and setup your equipment respectively.  Continuous RF interference messages indicate either a setup issue, where raising the antenna or the t-links is recommended,  or there are environment concerns - line of sight, EM fields etc. 

Heat Based Results Could skip 1st car in the standings.
Insert New Entry In some cases, a new super class entry was created with the prior Bump class.

Bug Fixes
Networking
Pax and Raw Time Positions		 The Pax and Raw Time positions were ignored on the Networking clients.
Non-Pax Super Classes Non Pax Super classes were not being build properly resulting in Pax like Super Class registrations.
Heat Assignments &
Bumping Entire Classes 		Bumping an entire class confused the sorting management for the number of entries in a class resulting in incomplete Heat Assignments. Bumping 1 entry at a time worked as expected.
Bumping Entire Classes &
Networking		 Using the Bumping an entire class function did not send the data to the Network exchange and thus the entries were not synchronized between all the Networking clients and T&S. Individual bumps worked as expected.

 

Version 14.30 - April 2014

Enhancements
Bar Code Scanning
+ Registration Mode		 A new Bar Code Setting - Auto-register entry allows you to selectively flag the entry as racing/registered or not.  In either case, the entry will be put into focus in the registration grid for easy access selection.
Printer Fonts for Labels Labels (registration, bar code and time slip) share Font selection and sizes. This offers much nicer labels than prior versions.

Adjusted the default templates for Registration and Bar Code labels for Sheet Fed labels.

As with all printing, test print outs on normal paper is recommended to allow proper spacing and alignment. Templates may affect your results.
Labels printing Minor adjustments to support fonts and improved label spacing. Prior versions offset the start of the label by 5 spaces (which is no longer the case).
Membership File Association Improved the validation of the Membership File during certain operations, including points updates, export and import. 
Announcer Windows Both the Announcer By Class and Announcer Rolling windows were enhanced to provide info about cars on course.  The On Deck will show "On Course" entries for timers that provide individual start and finish triggers (T-LINK, AXWRATS and a few others).

Additional minor modifications were made to the data columns, adding run # into the results.
Sheet Fed Labels - Scaling Adjustments For sheet fed labels 2 new settings allow you to scale your selected font for a better fit on the printed sheet.  It allows 20% increase and 20% decrease for both height and width of the selected font to better fit onto the printed sheet.  Since Fonts vary and offset the alignment significantly, some testing is required to allow you to best fit the printed output onto your labels.  It is now possible to have mono-spaced fonts as well at other fonts to fit on the report.
Car Numbers with Letters The Staging Grid did not case letters in car numbers correctly and always assumed lower case.  Valid numbers with letters appended to them allow  'A'-'Z', and 'a'-'z' for upper and lower casing respectively.
Announcer Clients - Disable Auto-Sort It was possible to have Disable Auto-Sort on in the Announcer Clients while trying to provide timing information fur the announcers.  When Disable Auto-Sort is ON, standings and timing statistics are not updated.  Now, when using either Announcer Client, the Disable Auto-Sort is ALWAYS turned OFF, allowing standings and timing statistics to always update.  You may still turn if ON when required.

Bug Fixes
Heat Assignments Cache In rare instances the heat assignments cache will get out of synchronization and result in reports not showing classes in the Book Marks or collating several classes in the reports incorrectly.  A quick workaround was to delete *.hcf file. 
Sheet Fed Labels Sheet fed labels were modified to provide cleaner printing and support font selections.

Insert New Entry
  • With Unique Car Number In Pax Class set, it was possible at times to select a different class and retain the same number.  Status message stating the car Exists was overwritten by a follow up message and the message was lost to the user.  The class is reset to the existing entry but with little information to the user.
  • Find Available # could at times not return a unique number in a pax class when Unique Car Numbers was active.
Printing Time slips and sector timing If Sector timing was active and the number of sectors was changed during the event, the Time Slip content may not be correct for all fields. A Time Slip reset  was required - as a workaround, starting and stopping time slips or saving and reloading the event would reset the time slip content appropriately.  Time Slips are cached due to the way they are used and the cache required to be reset.
Live Timing Upload Parameters Enhanced the URL and folder selections to better manage the uploads. In prior versions it was possible to enter URL and folder options that conflicted with one another and the target folder was improperly selected as a result. Either the upload would fail (folder did not exist). The error was silent unless the upload script was reviewed..
Print Label Font Size The font size was not saved in the settings but is now. This require you to reset the font size each time you printed labels.

Enhancements
GUI Windows 8 GUI framework update.
Class Tree View
Selecting To Stage		 When the event is first loaded, and trying to stage an entry immediately could result in no action being taken. 
New HTML Setup Option The HTML Settings page now allows you to copy the *.CSS (Style sheets) from the installation folder to the current data folder. This was done to allow easy and quick access to the style sheets. You can now press the new Copy button and select the style sheet for  your reports immediately.
   

Bug Fixes

File Close - Windows 8

On Windows 8.x - Window processing controls are slightly different then in prior Windows and sporadic crashes could occur during a File Close.  No data was affected however and the crash was a result of a screen refresh in the Class Tree View.
Re-classing Pax Entries Without SuperClassing ON When re-classing Pax entries without SuperClass setting ON in the Setup/Cass Definitions, the <OPEN> Pax selection was missing which made it harder to move a pax entry to an open class.  A workaround was to turn on SuperClass support but in this version that is no longer required. 
Loading or Creating New Event - may result in a crash On some computers loading an event or creating a new one may cause the software to crash. The condition was due to some registry values that were improperly set and dependent on your Windows configuration.
Importing Large Membership Files from ORM If large number of membership entries were being imported from ORM, you could receive an error stating the 1st line is nor formatted properly. This has to do with Server Side settings which are now increased to permit larger data sets.  The amount of data is  dependant on your club's configuration and various from one club to the next.

Live Timing Streaming Implemented Streaming Live Timing is to AXWare ORM is now available.  This feature provides various views in ORM for real time standings, timing logs, and driver information.

Results may be viewed via browsers as well as pulled from AXWare ORM via our upcoming AXWare Live Timing Android Application that provides a new interactivity for viewing Live timing and Timing Results. Please refer to the Documentation for more information.
Super Classes Additional Permutations of Superclasses were updated  to provide the proper pull-down selections when re-classing or editing entries.  Prior to this, some Super Class such definitions were over stated (providing too many options).
