• Most new PC's and Laptops have sufficient CPU power
• Best with Processors of 500Mhz or better.
• Windows OS Minimums are very basic and insufficient for most uses. It is suggested to purchase sufficient memory based on the intended uses. 4Gig+ recommended keeping in mind Windows loves memory.
• 4+ USB ports recommend - most Laptops nowadays require the use of USB-Serial Adapters to connect to Timers and Displays. A normal setup will take up 4-6 USB ports very quickly. Example:
  1. Timer
  2. Display
  3. Printer
  4. Mouse
• Obtain the largest monitor in your budget. Recommended for used with Monitors that provide screen resolutions of at least 1024x768. Preferred 1280x1024 or higher.
• If Networking support is required, sufficient speed processors are recommended for ALL machines, otherwise Networking interactions may suffer performance based on the 'slowest' machine.
• Although it seems every machine comes with Network adapters, having a wireless and hard wired options if highly recommend, and require for AXWareTS and Networking.

For completeness the following should also provide better performance:

• Sufficient speed peripherals including disc and other components. Faster machines typically have faster peripherals but if you cross pollinate your systems, some performance impacts may be realized if old hardware is incorporated into the setup.
• Sufficient disk space and memory (4Gig+ recommended) are required to allow the system to run without requiring disk swapping and to provide the performance level you are seeking.  Slower processors with less memory typically exhibit slightly higher latencies in normal operations.
• Recommended for used with Monitors that provide screen resolutions of at least 1024x768. Preferred 1280x1024 or higher. This provides a larger screen so that the views in the program can be best utilized.
• If optional modules are to be used, including Bar Code, Networking, and Live Timing it is recommended that faster processors and machines are used for ALL or your computers.  With respect to Networking, the 'slowest' machine will dictate overall performance (a Window OS constraint).
• Fast printers are also recommended to provide fast and reliable printing during the event.  This is helpful in audit reports and reports generated as the event is being run.

Older USB adapters that worked on OS's prior to Windows 7 may not work correctly on new platforms. 

With the introduction of USB 3.x and newer, the driver sets and even the chip sets used in the older adapters are not sufficient. Some older drivers may install on new OS's but please do not be fooled. Their performance is not sufficient and you may experience critical failures (crashes) as a result.

We are recommending USB adapters built by www.usconverters.com - their Ultimate USB Adapter. These are designed with a FTDI chip set and are a high performance adapter. Please do not try to obtain cheap versions...we have found that they offer very poor reliability, performance and fail often.
