AXWareRollRacing - Networking

The AXWareRollRacing Networking Module extends event control to additional computers to manage the data for the event.

Depending on your LAN configuration, long ranges can be achieve with a PTMP (point to multi-point) network setup and robust routers.

Networking Clients

  • Provides control of an event using several computers to help reduce the tasks for the Timing persons as well expand the capabilities.
  • Timing Control Server - central PC for timing and has the timing gear connected to it.
  • Registration Clients (I & II) - used as additional registration computers.
  • Announcer Client  - provides announcer style functionality for events. Allows the user to view and access data without interfering with the Timing Server.
  • Staging Client - use a client to stage vehicles
  • Time Slip Client - devoted time slip client that prints time slips as vehicles finish their runs.
  • Audit Client - provides explicit client that is devoted to managing the Staging data for audit purposes.

WIFI

Networking is a large topic and depends on the distribution of you networking clients.  Long range Access Points will be required in support of a PMTP (Point to Multi-Point) network setup.

We do however recommend the Ubiquiti brand. They are in-expensive but very robust solutions than can provide miles of range and support. They continue to develop components but we have worked with Ubiquiti NanoStation M5 (and newer) Access Points.  Their newer consist of UDB-Pro-Sector and UDB-Pro.

A robust Router will be required that will be used at Timing that supports your LAN setup and manages the PMTP. The router will connect to your Timing computer.

Please review configurations online for best practices and information.  For some information please search Youtube for "uniquiti PMTP" for videos for configuration assistance or contact a IT professional.  IT Professionals may use alternative hardware
